Candover Kitchens is a brand-new kitchen company based in Winchester. They design and build bespoke kitchens using natural wood with reeded and fluted finishes with a modern contemporary feel.

Brief

Candover Kitchens was established by the owners of Surface Studio, (a previous client who provide bespoke joinery for design professionals). They create kitchens from the finest fluted and reeded panels, using mainly the products from The Surface Studio.

My brief was to create a brand identity including logos, colour schemes and graphics for their stationery, website and social media.

Inspiration

I was asked to combine the elements of handmade, bespoke and made in Hampshire into the design. My inspiration came from the products they use in their kitchens – the wood texture, grooves and panelling.

Approach

I used a muted grey and blue colour scheme to work along side the Surface Studio. I designed various iterations of the logo reflecting a cross section of an oak tree, their panelled products and a simple sketch of a tree.

Result

We decided on a version of the logo and branding that incorporated the tree image both within a circle (giving a nod to the cross-section of the tree trunk) and on its own. The striped back tree sketch represented the handmade, bespoke element of their kitchens. I used similar graphics of a heart and a coffee to express the love of their kitchens and the finished result – eating and drinking in the kitchen.

I created the logos in landscape and roundal formats suitable for use on many different web platforms.
